National News: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has named the surgical action taken against terrorists in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) as 'Operation Sindoor'. This operation has been dedicated to the women who lost their husbands in the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on 22 April. Sindoor is a symbol of the marital bliss of married women in Indian culture. The naming of this operation is inspired by the same feeling of respect and tribute.

Operation based on RAW information

In a coordinated military operation in the early hours of Wednesday, India targeted 9 terrorist bases located in Pakistan and PoK with precise missile strikes. These bases included important terrorist bases like Bahawalpur, the stronghold of Jaish-e-Mohammed, and Muridke, the headquarters of Lashkar-e-Taiba. This operation was carried out on the basis of information from the Indian intelligence agency RAW.

This action was taken after Prime Minister Modi gave full operational freedom to the armed forces to respond to terrorism in a meeting with top defense officials on April 29. He had made it clear that India will not tolerate terrorism and every attack will be responded with full force.

Restrained and focused action

The Indian government has described this operation as a restrained and focused action. According to the Defense Ministry, the attacks were focused only on terrorist infrastructure and no facilities of the Pakistani army were targeted. It was emphasized that this was not a provocative war, but an action to hold terrorists accountable.

Prime Minister Modi monitored

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Modi monitored 'Operation Sindoor' throughout the night and kept reviewing the situation. The government has also clarified that detailed information related to this operation will be formally shared soon.
